He's very into PDA once you two reach a good point in your relationship + he'll tell you about his fucked up experiences with his dad, Omni-Man. If he does any of those things, oh he trusts you.

Bonus: you're scared at first, but he then convinces you to let him hold you while he flies in the high sky. You almost puked on him, too afraid, but also excited.

More "villains with a code" should be written how Kirkman wrote Negan- i.e. an awful person who's very visibly latching onto an extremely specific issue on which they can reassure themselves that they've got the moral high ground even as they proceed to reproduce the practical harms of their pet issue in other areas because it was never actually about being morally consistent, it was about being able to feel just good enough about themselves to avoid suicide
